In 2023, 6,069 people in England and Wales lost their lives to suicide.
That number is more than a statistic—it represents friends, family members, teammates, colleagues, and loved ones who should still be here.
At BRAV Endurance, we believe sport has the power to start conversations, build connection, and quite literally save lives. That’s why we were incredibly proud to support the Bigmoose Ultra Fun Run 2025, an event that exists to turn awareness into action and community into change.
A Run With Real Purpose
Bigmoose is a mental health charity providing fast, accessible therapy to people who are struggling—intervening when it matters most. Their Ultra Fun Run isn’t about PBs or podiums; it’s about showing up.
The goal is powerful and simple:
6,069 people running to represent the 6,069 lives lost.
Held in the heart of Cardiff’s Bute Park on 13th April 2025, the event welcomed runners of all abilities and backgrounds. From 5k and 10k right through to half marathons, full marathons, and ultramarathons, the looped course made the day truly inclusive. Couch-to-5k runners, families with children, teams of friends, and ultra-distance athletes all shared the same paths, the same encouragement, and the same reason for being there.
And, as anyone who’s attended knows, the Bigmoose atmosphere is something special—an army of orange spots, constant encouragement, and a shared understanding that no one is running alone.
An Event Built on Inclusion
We were also proud to see the Ultra Fun Run accredited by SheRaces, recognising the event’s active commitment to gender equality. This included:
-
Inclusive and sufficient toilet facilities stocked with sanitary products
-
A zero-tolerance policy for harassment of any kind
-
Actively seeking participant feedback and improving year on year
-
Allowing women who become pregnant before the event to defer their entry
Mental health affects everyone, and events like this should reflect that reality—welcoming, safe, and supportive for all.
BRAV’s Role: Turning Support Into Something You Can Wear
As an endurance brand built on resilience, grit, and showing up when it’s hard, supporting this event felt deeply personal for us.
For the 2025 Ultra Fun Run, BRAV Endurance created and delivered over 15,000 pieces of merchandise, designed not just to look good, but to mean something.
Our contribution included:
-
A customised event t-shirt for every participant, each one finished with bespoke custom packaging, so runners felt valued from the moment they collected their kit
-
Custom BRAV socks for every finisher, a small but powerful reminder of what they achieved and why they ran
-
Over 2,000 customised silicone cups, supporting sustainability while keeping runners fuelled and hydrated throughout the day
Every detail was considered. Every item was designed to carry the story of the event—one of remembrance, hope, and collective action.
Seeing thousands of runners moving through Bute Park wearing BRAV gear, supporting one another, starting conversations, and representing lives lost was genuinely humbling.
The Impact We Can Make Together
At last year’s event, 1,000 incredible people took part, forming friendships on the course and raising £50,000 to fund immediate mental health intervention. That support translates directly into therapy sessions, timely help, and lives changed—and saved.
The Ultra Fun Run shows what’s possible when community, charity, and purpose come together. It proves that running doesn’t have to be about times or distances—it can be about standing for something bigger than yourself.
Why This Matters to BRAV
At BRAV Endurance, we exist to support people through endurance—both physical and mental. Partnering with Bigmoose aligns perfectly with our belief that movement can be a lifeline, and that showing up for each other matters.
We’re incredibly proud to have played a small part in such a meaningful event and even prouder of every single person who laced up their shoes, pulled on their orange tee, and took a stand for mental health.
This wasn’t just a run.
It was a statement.
And we’ll keep running that line—together.
